STRIGOI

The last light is gray.

STRIGOI confines the photograph to a reduced tonal range. Absolute black remains intact, but the values above it rise progressively into charcoal. Much of the image gathers in concentrated midtones, while highlights enter compression early, leaving even the brightest surfaces subdued.

Color continues to influence the final tone. Warm materials resolve slightly higher, while greens and cyans settle deeper. These relationships shift with luminance, saturation and channel mixture, bringing different surfaces toward a common gray without erasing their individual responses.

The resulting light feels spent. Form remains legible, but the usual distance between shadow and illumination has narrowed. STRIGOI gives monochrome an almost inanimate presence through the deliberate restriction of its tonal scale.
