WKSJ-01 MOROK
A severe orthochromatic monochrome LUT built around asymmetric color sensitivity and precise tonal separation.
WKSJ-01 MOROK is an authorial black-and-white LUT built from a deliberately unconventional orthochromatic response.
Pure red resolves to black, but red is not simply discarded from the conversion. Within mixed colors it changes the tonal relationship between channels, allowing yellow to separate from green and magenta from blue. Green remains the most sensitive region, blue stays distinctly legible, and cyan reaches the brightest chromatic response.
This creates a monochrome image in which neighboring colors can occupy clearly different tonal positions without breaking into artificial boundaries. The separation is pronounced but continuous, preserving smooth transitions across hue and saturation without thresholds, mask-like edges or abrupt tonal steps.
Black remains clean and absolute while the lower tonal range opens progressively instead of closing prematurely. Midtones retain dense mineral weight and strong internal definition, while highlights move into restrained, matte whites below full digital white. MOROK can be severe without simply making the image dark. Its tension comes from the way color is reorganized into tone.
The result suggests an older photographic sensitivity reconstructed with contemporary precision. Strange, austere and sharply resolved, with the irregular tonal relationships of an unfamiliar monochrome material but without simulated degradation or digital roughness. MOROK does not reproduce a specific historical film stock or photochemical process, and it does not add grain, halation or spatial effects.
